Wales Home Foundation campaign launches with chair, Keith Baldwin

Record Staff (HB)

The Wales Home Foundation marked its 2026–2027 Annual Campaign with an official community launch ceremony on Sept. 17 in the Wales Home’s main living room.

This year’s campaign is chaired by 103-year-old Wales Home resident and longtime Foundation supporter Keith Baldwin. Speaking from the heart, Baldwin reflected on the importance of the Foundation and recalled some of the many improvements made at the Wales Home over the years with its support, according to the press release. Baldwin was visibly moved and delighted to be part of the occasion.

Approximately 40 residents, board members, employees and friends of the Wales Home attended the gathering. The Annual Campaign began on April 1, 2026, and will continue until March 31, 2027.

Fundraising Coordinator Juliana Fabri recognized Baldwin’s longstanding support at the event, and described his leadership of the campaign as a special honour for the Foundation.

Wales Home Foundation President Claude Charron welcomed those in attendance and thanked the generosity of the community, which enables the Foundation to continue supporting the Wales Home.

Scott Drinkwater, recently appointed executive director of the Résidence Wales Home and CHSLD Wales, spoke about the warm welcome he has received from residents since joining the organization. He also emphasized the importance of the relationship between the Wales Home and the Foundation.

Among the priorities identified for the 2026–2027 Annual Campaign are improvements to the Wales Home’s ventilation system, an important investment in resident comfort, safety and essential building infrastructure. As planning progresses, the Wales Home and the Foundation will continue working together to ensure that campaign contributions are directed toward the areas where they can provide the greatest benefit to residents.

The afternoon featured piano music performed by Francine Beaubien and refreshments shared by residents and guests.

Community members are invited to support the campaign by donating, sharing the Wales Home’s story with family and friends, and helping others learn about the important role the Wales Home plays in the lives of residents and their families.
